SEAN MATHIAS was born in Swansea of Irish/Welsh parents He is a playwright, actor, director and producer. His first stage play, Cowardice, was produced in the West End, starring Janet Suzman and lan McKellen. A Prayer for Wings won Sean Mathias a ‘Fringe First Award’ at the Edinburgh Festival, 1985 as well as his second nomination for 'Most Promising Playwright’. Sean Mathias made his directorial debut with Exceptions in 1988 and subsequently directed several highly-praised productions including Uncle Vanya, Les Parents Terribles and A Little Night Music. In 1991 he adapted David Leavitt's novel The Lost Language of Cranes for BBC TV and in 1997 he co-produced and directed the film version of Martin Sherman’s Bent.
